Planting Tips
Dig hole approx. 12'
across and 18" deep.
Keep insects under
control at all times.
Use thermal wraps to prevent
sunburn in summer, & for frost
protection in winter. Remove
after 1st year. Wrap tightly for
frost protection, & loosely with
air space for sunburn protection.
Sunburn can also be prevented
by painting exposed trunk with
thinned white latex interior paint.
Remove suckers from trunk.
Basin for water or level off
for spitter or drip irrigation.
Top of root ball elevated
2-8" depending on soil
conditions (higher for
heavy soil/slope).
Be
sure roots are not
exposed.
Rest ball on firm soil to
avoid settling
.
Set tree with sleeve in hole,
slit and remove plastic sleeve.
Tamp soil firmly around ball. Avoid dis-
turbing soil on roots or trimming feeder roots.
DO NOT TAMP WET SOIL.
